Senior Coordinator, Communications

Department: Communications
Location: St. Petersburg, FL or London, UK
Reports to: Sr. Manager, PR & Corporate Communications

Summary:  

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily media monitoring, analysis and distribution of coverage
  • Prepare match notes and statistics for international media on a weekly and sometimes daily basis, notably in-office weeks
  • Manage the distribution of Communications email newsletters and daily results emails
  • Assists in the writing and distribution of announcements and press releases
  • Proactive pitching responsibilities, including athlete coordination and media outreach
  • Management and responsibility of building and updating targeted WTA media distribution lists
  • Assist in the management of WTA and Tournament media credential systems
  • Assist with planning and communication of the department’s travel schedule
  • Communications support at assigned tournaments worldwide, including servicing media requests and inquiries, active local and regional pitching, player and agent outreach and the execution of WTA ACES player appearance program
  • Provide tournament and event-based storylines for content development
  • Assist in the preparation of ACES and Media Training presentations for internal and external use
  • General department admin, including regular updating of Communications manuals, documents and templates

Education and Experience:

  • University Education in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Sport Management or equivalent.
  • Two to three years of previous experience in tennis, sports or entertainment, public relations/ marketing/ journalism.
  • Strong experience with business software of Microsoft Office.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and public speaking skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills/team-oriented;
  • Foreign language skills desirable
  • Must be outstanding in ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple demands and priorities;
  • Creative writing ability;
  • Knowledge of media relations and practices;
  • Tennis knowledge desirable;
  • High level of professionalism;
  • Self motivated and ability to work independently;

  • Full Time, 40 hours a week. Typical schedule will be Monday-Friday. Some weekend work required throughout the season (January to November).

Intern, Sports Science & Medicine 

Department: Sports Science & Medicine
Location: Remote
Reports to: Manager, SS&M Transitions, Admin
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
Pay: State Minimum Wage 
Duration: Fall Internship – 16 weeks

Summary:
The Intern, SS&M observes and participates in all aspects of Sport, Sciences and Medicine, within a worldwide professional sports organization.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Medical data entry into Electronic documentation system (EMR)
  • Medical data review for research purposes/ collection
  • Review, scan and organize R&D articles (journal articles, research papers, etc.)
  • Assist with tournament supply coordination
  • Assist with various projects, including but not limited to programs in exercise, nutrition, physicals, athlete care, orthotics and equipment
  • Assist with research and presentation materials
  • Assist in production of player education materials
  • Assist with basic admin and operations functions
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • Obtaining or recently obtained a degree(s) in: Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, Statistics, Health Information Systems, Analytics, Medical Documentation, Exercise Science, or related filed required.
  • Athletic training and/or physical therapy background preferred, but not required.
  • Medical documentation background preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with tennis and/ or "individual" skills

Manager, Communications

Summary:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • The Communications Manager role provides an opportunity to be part of a global Communications team that supports and promotes players and tournaments of the WTA Tour, with a focus on the exposure, awareness and media attention surrounding professional women’s tennis.
  • For assigned tournaments, develop strategic media plan in coordination with Tournament Media Director to deliver local, regional and international coverage, coordinate player and agent outreach, service media requests and execute WTA ACES player appearance program
  • Work with Tournament Media Manager to review credential requests and manage on-site media office
  • Provide tournament and event-based storylines for content development; assist with content creation onsite at Tournaments
  • Responsible for the execution, regulation and development of the ACES program at assigned tournaments
  • Assist in the daily media monitoring, analysis and distribution of WTA coverage
  • Assist in the creation and distribution of department newsletters and daily results emails
  • Prepare match notes and statistics for international media on a weekly and sometimes daily basis, notably during non-travel weeks
  • Assist in the writing of announcements and press releases
  • Assist in the management of WTA Coaches Program and oversee media activities associated with the Program
  • Proactive pitching preparation framing the WTA, the athletes and tournaments to media outlets for external coverage, in both sports and non-sports media outlets
  • May be involved n cross-platform content ideation and development
